The Wedding Pro Show

Episode 69: Is Getting Organized on Your To-do List?

I asked a question in The Wedding Vendors Community, our free Facebook group… What do you hope will be even better about your business one year from today?

The answers were so good, I thought it would be fun to do a series here on the podcast.

We can spend these few minutes getting you started on your way, then if you want to go deeper, you can contact me and we can discuss it further.

One of the answers was to be more organized, so let’s unpack that.

I know speaking for myself, one of the things that used to make me feel disorganized was being pressed for time, or really just too “busy”.

I used to run around like crazy. Working to the point that I was exhausted, too tired to even think about being organized.

I was taking each thing as it came to me… and I even had a team helping me.

When I added in a client relationship management system, everything changed.

I personally use Dubsado, (click to check it out and get 20% off), but there are many out there. I’m happy to give you more options in them, just shoot me a message and we’ll walk through it.

I finally slowed down long enough to get it set up, and it took a huge weight off of me when it came to managing my future and current clients.

A CRM allows clients to access what they need, when they need it, without having to contact you (hello no more phone tag), and also lets you get what you need from them. It truly is game changing.

So having just this one system in place not only gets you organized, but also releases more time for you to not be running around like crazy like I was, so you have more time to get more organized!

See how that pays off double? So worth it!

One of the lessons in my online course for wedding pros, is literally “systems save resources”. Your resources are your time and money.

What other systems could you put into place that save your time, money, and sanity?

How about file management on your computer?

Do you have your files in a place where they’re easily organized and backed up?

I personally love Google Drive. I pay a little for even more space, I think it’s like $2/month, but you get a lot of space completely free.

I used it for years before I ever needed to pay for more space.

It has all kinds of genius ways to be organized, and even has apps that create much more efficiency for your business and your life.

I could do a whole episode on Google Drive and creative ways to use it to your advantage.

Maybe we’ll do that sometime soon.

The next thing to think about is what you’re spending your time on.

To get to the root of this issue, evaluate what you’re saying “yes” to. Are you protecting your “yes’s”?

It really is okay to say “no” sometimes.

Every time something comes up that will take your time, just stop for a second and think about if it’s really something you should be doing.

This could be anything in your life or your business.

Say yes to the things that bring you joy and are in your zone of genius.

I could go on and on about organization, but my promise to you about making these episodes 5ish minutes is important to me.

I really want to talk about organization for your social media, we’ll save that for a future episode.

I want you to have time to implement the things we’ve talked about here, so you can actually get more organized!

Hot tip:

As you go through the next 2 days, write down everythnig you do.

On the 3rd day, go back and cross out everything that wasn’t absolutely necessary.

Use this data as a starting point for evaluating what you could say no to, and save yourself some time that could make you get more organized.

Always email me any time!

Thank you as always for being here!
