Episode 53: Know Your Worth? Double It? Add Tax?

There's a saying that goes around, you've probably heard it.

It shows up as "Know your worth"... or know your worth and double it, know your worth and add tax, I'm sure you've heard some variation.

I don't love it. I have so many students who get tripped up on their pricing by trying to figure up their worth.

Here's the truth: There's absolutely no dollar amount that can be assigned to you, your uniqueness, you're amazingness, your experience, your expertise, you get the idea.

You're running a business, your pricing is business based, your worth is not your pricing.

Confidence is everything when it comes to your pricing.

That said, there are several things that can affect how you feel about your worth, and it messes with your confidence, so it messes with your pricing.

Let's go through a few of those here today.

1. People telling you to put a number to your worth. You knew this one would be first, right?

2. Offering discounts.

3. Thinking about your worth in a "by the hour" capacity.

Listen in for explanations of each of these points.

Your hot tip is all about not letting a competitor set your pricing. You heard that right. I'm telling you more inside the episode.

We talk a lot about pricing, and the formulas you can use for pricing, in The Vendors Circle.
