Episode 51: Should You Be Pinning?

What exactly is Pinterest, according to Pinterest?

Pinterest is a visual discovery engine for finding ideas to spark inspiration.

It’s officially classified as a social media networking service, which is worth noting, because it used to be classified as a search engine.

They’ve been making changes to the platform to make it more and more social. Things like adding the feature of stories.

Everything you see on Pinterest is linked to something someone created somewhere else on the internet. It’s not created on Pinterest, it’s shared on Pinterest.

Let’s talk stats for a minute...

41% of American women use Pinterest

They’re not only using it, they’re using it for shopping. This is an important statistic because knowing this, tells us that people (as in couples) are using it with intention, not just for entertainment value, which is the majority of what they’re using other social media platforms for.

85% of Pinterest users are planning a major life event. Hello all things wedding related.

93% are planning future purchases.

If you’re thinking about investing in ads anywhere, Pinterest ads are highly effective. For every $1 spent on Pinterest marketing grosses around $4.30 in sales.

It validates you to your potential clients.

Let’s say you’re creating content, you are, right?

If you have a blog post, you’ll get more traffic to it, from your ideal clients, when you share that post on Pinterest.

Your ideal client, who is hanging out on Pinterest, sees that and is introduced to you.

THEN… you can also share that PIN to your social media. You showing a Pinterest pin, validates you to your ideal client because they trust Pinterest, and that trust passes on to you. Magic, right?

You can post to the same link, like this blog post, every day on Pinterest if you want to.

The content lives on, unlike the flash across your ideal clients’ newsfeed that happens on other social media.

It ranks highly on Google.

You know that blog post, I’m sure you did a good job with your SEO and that it ranked high on Google.

Just in case it didn’t, the Pinterest pin also gets picked up by Google!

Hot tip… even if you don’t blog, you can post on Pinterest.

Anything you post on any social media, can be shared as a pin on Pinterest. If it has a link, it can go on Pinterest. A FB post, your FB page, an IG post, a YouTube video, literally anything!

With that information, there’s no reason for you not to get started today!
