The Wedding Pro Show

Episode 43: Have You Used This Fun New Facebook Feature?

This episode’s review came in the form of a share on an Instagram story. Tami Santini shared a screenshot of Episode 41, with the caption: Great tips to slay the day!

Tami and her husband Lou are amazing wedding professionals, they both work full time in their business, just like my husband Joe and I, we have so much respect for them.

They have a masterclass starting June 14, called Discover 4 Key Ingredients You Need to Have a Thriving and Successful Destination Wedding Business.

Even better? Destination weddings are a great aspect to add to any existing wedding business, definitely not for travel agents only.

Now let’s get on to the show.

You know I love social media, and I love sharing with you when a fun new feature is released.

I stumbled onto this on a couple of days ago, and tested it out in two of my groups.

In my membership for wedding pros, The Vendors Circle, and also in my free group, The Wedding Vendors Community.

I have it on my personal page too, but it hasn’t shown up on my business page yet, I’m assuming it’s just starting to roll out, I haven’t seen or heard many people talking about it or using it, but we’ve all had a fun time with it this weekend.

When you do a new post, it’s called “Host a Q&A”. It was at the very top of my list, but this morning it was at the very bottom.

I’m assuming it was at the top until I used it the first time, to call attention to it.

To play with it for the first time, I decided to do an “AMA: Ask Me Anything” and got some fun questions.

First: How are your weddings going? We actually retired from hosting weddings with our full service venue in early 2020 and sold both venues. Just in time, right?

It had always been our goal so we were super blessed that it happened. We enjoyed a quick trip to Chicago this weekend and loved every minute of it.

If this is your goal too, keep going, it will happen, just give it time. It was important to us to put in the hard work and sell while we’re still young enough to really enjoy it and reap the rewards.

Now I’m here full time online consulting and helping other wedding pros build and scale their business, I love hearing from you!

We also have some other recurring revenue streams that my husband manages, we help each other and love working together full time.

Another question was: What was your favorite thing about owning a venue?

While it is a lot lot lot of work, I think it’s a very overlooked position in the industry, maybe because there’s such a range from being completely hands on as a venue owner or operator, to being all hands on and full service.

My short answers were: the moment the first guests arrive and seeing all of the planning fall into place, as the last song plays and they’re so proud of how everything went, when the guests compliment the couple on how lovely their wedding was, the pride of the business succeeding, the vendor relationships… I could go on forever about how much we loved it.

One thing I didn’t mention was the round table debrief after the last guest left the building.

We always took a minute to unwind and chatter about the events of the evening, before getting everything wrapped up.

Even though we were dead tired, it was a fun time for us to circle back up.

I also love the way we were always able to work together as a family, my daughter met her husband there, and gained skills she continues to use in her business and her life. Both of them actually.

I love the experience it gave me to learn the hard way so I can pass it on to you and make growing your business easier.

Clearly I could do a whole episode about this topic, but I always promise to keep them tight, so I’ll wrap this up and save the rest of the questions from the AMA for another time.

Hot tip: Give it a try if you have it on your any of your Facebook channels. It’s really cute, it turns each answer into a slide that can be swiped through, and can even be customized into your brand colors. Go check it out in my free group, The Wedding Vendors Community.

Shoot me a message and let me know how you like it!

Other important mentions:

If you're ready to invest in yourself and focus on going full time, this is a great place for you!
