Do you use email marketing in your business?
Here's the definition: marketing (I like to use the term connecting) directly with a subscriber through email
Do you feel like something's missing in your business? This could very well be your missing piece.
We're going to use the specialty of wedding photographer in these examples, but it could be anything.
Let's say a couple is shopping around for vendors for their dream wedding, but they're not ready to book yet, they might not even be engaged yet. They're in the dreaming stage.
They come across your website (yay you, you're coming up for your ideal clients!). They love everything about you. Your editing style, your portfolio, your collections, your story, everything.
Now they visit other photographers' sites, Pinterest, their friends and family tell them about their favorite photographer, soon you're a forgotten memory.
Now let's say that first time they visited your website, you had a form. Not your inquiry form, a form to keep them updated on your latest news, or better yet, a free resource for them to download.
Either way, they enter their name and email address, and now they're on your email marketing list.
You send them a welcome email.
Then you send them a sweet and valuable email each week.
Now they're ready to book their photographer.
They can't help but remember you, and they book you!
Now imagine that you don't do this but your competitor does. Ouch.
Yes showing up on social media is similar, as long as the algorithm allows it.
Emails are 20 times more likely to get opened, than the likeliness that your social media content crosses their feed.
Social media is still important. It's still important to stay consistent there. They will visit your social media to check you out. You have to be there and you have to show up.
BUT.... building your entire business on it is like building your home on someone else's land. You wouldn't do it.
What if you wake up today and your favorite social media has disappeared? Is your business gone, or do you have your email list to fall back on?
Hot tip: Now how do you get started? Use this (aff.) link to check out Flodesk. It's the email marketing platform we recommend. My link gives you 50% off for every month you subscribe to it. It's easy to use, has forms for you to use on your website, and let's you send unlimited emails. Most of all, it's GORGEOUS, so your brides will love getting your emails!
