The Wedding Pro Show
Episode 26: Connect with a Competitor
Today we were having our Execute Mastermind here in St. Louis and we were talking about ways to help our couples trust us with their big day.
One of those ways (we’ll talk about more of them on a future episode), is to always have a backup plan.
Even if we never need it, it’s assuring for them to hear that we have checks and balances in place.
One of the backup plans we brainstormed about was a connection with another similar vendor in our field.
No matter what type of vendor you are, an unexpected disaster could happen.
AND no matter what type of vendor you are, you have unique qualities, unique only to you.
BUT, if a worst case scenario happens, a connection with another trustworthy vendor is always a good idea.
Along this same thoughtline, having connections with other wedding pros of your same type is also one of the best ways to fill your calendar, and helping them fill theirs, especially right now with all of the reschedules and new bookings all needing the inventory. The inventory of available dates.
So after dinner I was scrolling aimlessly through Facebook and ran across a post by another wedding pro from our group. We’re Facebook friends too so I got the pleasure of seeing the post on his page, and it stopped my scroll.
Let me read it to you.
I have his permission to share, but not the other vendors so I’ll use a fake name for them.
I want to say THANK YOU to "ABC DJ Company" for their recommendation of my company for a wedding on a date that that they were already booked. I appreciate your confidence and will not let you or the bride down in any way. And, I cannot wait to be able to return the favor.
Then it gets better.
They commented back.
They said “You’re very welcome! Glad they are in good hands.”
This my friends, is what it’s all about.
Hot tip: Notice that it even shows the power of reciprocation, like we talked about in episode 10.
He’s looking forward to referring a couple to them that he’s already booked for.
It totally sucks to have to tell a couple no, it’s way more fun to be able to tell them no, BUT here’s another option for you.
And it keeps your network working. Win win.
This works.
Huge shoutout to Royce with Mr. Music Karaoke and DJ Services in Arizona, big props to you and your network my friend. Give him a follow on Facebook, I linked him in the show notes on our website at bridepath.com/26.
