Episode 24: Get an Accountability Buddy, Like Yesterday!
Accountable: to be responsible to someone
I have 3 reasons why to get an accountability partner for you today, but there really are many more.
1. To keep you moving forward and meeting your goals
One of the great ways for someone to keep you accountable, is to tell them what goal you want to acheive, and give it a date.
Just the act of saying it outloud is super powerful, plus the added benefit of knowing they’re holding you to it, is proven to keep you on task.
It’s so much more motivating and exciting knowing someone is rooting for you in your corner, and that you don’t want to disappoint them.
If you heard the podcast episode just before this one, number 23, you heard one of my accountability partners on it.
She lives in New Jersey and flew in to spend a week with me here in St. Louis.
We worked together and helped each other. We would take little breaks and go out sightseeing or to eat while still brainstorming as we were out.
I did the same thing with another of my accountability partners in January, I flew in to her in Bismarck, North Dakota. We go somewhere for it every year.
And again did the same thing last year in February with another one in Virginia Beach.
We even spend time with each others families.
We’ve all become the best of friends, there’s really nothing like it.
You’ll hear from them all on episodes in the near future.
2. To help you work through something that’s just in your head. Getting it out and talking through it, is often all you need to put that something into action.
Several of my accountability partners and I use the app Marco Polo. It’s a video app where you record yourself then send it. Then they record themself and send it. Kind of like a video version of texting.
3. To eliminate the loneliness that can sometimes come along with being an entrepreneur.
While it’s the absolute best thing in the world, and we’re in the absolute best industry in the world, it can still feel a little lonely sometimes.
Even if not lonely, it can often feel like you’re loved ones really don’t understand what you do.
I mean, don’t we all just party all the time and only work one or two days a week? Insert laughing emoji here.
We actually have several of the members of our wedding pro community coming to St. Louis in just a few days from now, where I’m hosting what we call “Execute”. We’re going to have a working accountability session where we’ll execute those things we’ve been needing to get done.
We also do similar to that online with our VIP group, The Vendors Circle.
You, as a podcast listener, have a $5 trial code for it, as a matter of fact!
Just go to bridepath.com/yes, click the “monthly” button, and enter TRIAL5.
We'll all love to see you there.
This hot tip is a little on the obvious side: find an accountability bud. Your actionable tip is to go into the Facebook group of our VIP membership, The Vendors Circle, and post that you’re looking for an accountability buddy.
We talk even more about the benefits of having an accountability bud in there.
If you need more help, I’m always here for you, where we learn, grow, and connect together.
PS… I couldn’t resist this PS, I’ve never done one on a podcast episode before, but if you get my emails you know I always put them on there.
One of my accountability buds actually texted me during the recording of this podcast about accountability buds (you probably heard the “ping”, I left it in there on purpose).
What I was describing in this episode was happening in real time. She was asking me about some copy that she wrote for her website.
